Ralph’s 90th Birthday

The namesake of this space was turning 90. So we gathered up our boots, called the cousins, and threw one big rowdy boy party for the big Ralph himself.

Hop in.

Ralph was born in the small town of Hugo, OK where his father was the acting District Attorney. Raised with a strict sense of justice, equality, and the “good ol boy” culture, Ralph is a stoic, strong willed, and get it done man of the land. We grew up with a slight fear of his presence, but an equally strong desire to be around him. Ralph treated everyone equally, whether it was letting 12 year olds take his old pickup out to the pasture, or showing us how to rope cattle. Some of my life’s hardest lessons were learned on his hundreds of acres south of OKC.

Keep it in the family.

But that is neither here nor there. For now, it was a celebration of the 90 years Ralph has been with us. We gathered the family from California, to Florida, and all celebrated a legacy that he has left. And none of this would have been complete without a caller and a full on square dancing evening. We learned how to do-si-do, allemande Left, and promenade around the dance floor all night. It was a joyful occasion filled with good food, joyful laughter, and a deep sense of family bonds.

Don’t stop dancing.
